So I did a thing. I just got my brows micro-bladed. First off, brows have become somewhat of a phenomenon in the makeup world.  Women are now open more than ever to try popular beauty services. I actually never thought I was going try it, only because I am more of a skeptic than I come off as.

Choosing My Micro-blading Artist

I was only tempted to go ahead with the service after seeing the work of PJ, whom I met back when I lived in Milwaukee. Her work is very particular in comparison to other brow artists. She has had years of makeup training (freelancer at MAC), cosmetologist background, Benefit Brow Bar, and most recently, Manager at Anastasia Beverly Hills at Nordstrom Milwaukee. Due to her professionalism and extensive experience, I knew she was the one to trust.

How My Micro-blading Appointment Went

When I pulled up to the Brookfield strip mall, where PJ is located, the parking lot was blocked off by police SUVs on all sides so I could not get in. Great. I was beginning to think this way the Gods way telling me I should not do it. PJ called me and let me know there was a gas leak and everyone in the strip mall had to be evacuated. I then left for a bit and we started just a little later than planned.

Consultation

PJ was extremely warm when I first saw her. She’s just so great. We started with some paperwork and then chatted a bit about her vision and if our visions aligned for my brows. I prefer a natural brow but I needed shape and some filling in. Luckily she said that her work is more natural and she believes in following your natural shape.

The Process

Next, she mapped out my future brows using tape and some kind of brow ink. She then went to numb me while she explained the process. I am some what of a wimp so I was a bit afraid of the pain. When she first started I did not feel much pain but after the second pass, it started becoming more tender. A pass includes 5-10 strokes and she goes about 4 passes on each brow. She explained she will numb me after each stroke. I was so glad for it because with the numbing, I still felt it but beauty can be pain and it was worth it.

The process took about an hour and a half but I did not time it so I am not sure. But here we are 36 hours later and there is no pain. My brows have definitely oxidized so they are a lot darker now but PJ explained, they will get darker, dry up, and peel. The ink is under the skin so it will still be there after the first layer falls off leaving a more natural look. Right now, they are obviously a bit dark but I can’t wait to see them when its all healed.

If you are interested in this service, I highly recommend GivebyPJ at in Brookfield.
